Treatment With Acne Body Wash

Acne does not necessarily appear on the face, this is simply the most noticeable place that the acne stands out. Body acne is a particularly common occurrence and can be extremely irritating. The normal acne cream and lotion treatments for mild to moderate types of acne is not appropriate for body acne for the simple reason that there is usually just too much of it for the small amounts of cream you get in a tube.

The answer is to use an acne body wash to treat light or moderate acne. For more severe types of body acne your doctor might recommend more aggressive types of topical treatments.

Body acne can form as a result of any number of reasons including hormones and stress. You may get acne on your body from a build up of perspiration of from clothes that continually touch or rub a certain area that is prone to the pores becoming clogged. An acne body wash will assist in unblocking the pores in the skin and will help to prevent bacteria from growing in those areas.

The skin on your body is generally thicker and tougher than on your face and so the treatment of a body wash will be suitable for the entire body as opposed to simply targeting the individual acne spots. An acne body wash is different to a normal body was in that it will contain an active ingredient that has been approved by the FDA for use in the treatment of acne.

Acne body wash may contain either salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide that will remove dead skin cells and clean out clogged skin pores. It will help to prevent inflammation of the oil glands and hair follicles. You should be aware though that using a body wash with one of these active ingredients will certainly dry out your skin.

To prevent your skin from becoming too dry after using an acne body wash it is advisable to also treat your skin to a moisturizing cream. This will put some moisture back into you skin preventing an annoying constant itch or inflammation from the harshness of the active ingredients.

There are not a terrible lot of different types of acne body wash products on the market and they can be a little hit or miss as far as effectiveness goes. One of the better known names is Murad Acne Body Wash which uses salicylic acid in combination with a find date seed powder and triclosan to get deeply into the pores of the skin to exfoliate.

This is a product that will be more effective on people who are suffering from mild acne on the body. The skin pores on the body are larger than those on the face and so will need harder scrubbing and more diligent treatment to ensure they are completely cleaned out. The good news about using an acne body wash is that it only needs to be used two or three times per week for it to be effective.
